Another year, another holiday contest, and with more than 2,400 entries this time, the creativity levels were through the roof. It’s always fun to see how far people can push the boundaries of holiday-themed designs. From functional pieces to beautiful ornaments, this year had it all.
We saw everything from freezing snowflakes, shining stars, and modular trees to reindeer with red noses and pop-culture-inspired designs. Functional creations like useful gift boxes and tealight holders stood out, and the mix of humor, practicality, and festive spirit made judging as tough as ever.
Thank you to everyone who participated—your creativity is what makes our contests possible.🧡
Let’s dive into the winners who sleighed it this year!
First place
Animated Winter Wonderland by chiz
This Christmas village DIY project has it all—snow-covered houses, a moving train, ice-skaters, dancers, glowing lights, and customizable holiday music! While animated Christmas scenes are often sold as ready-made decorations, this is the first time we’ve seen such a detailed and dynamic Christmas piece designed for 3D printing. The model includes complex moving parts powered by planetary gears, LED lighting, and an MP3 player. Although its complexity means it didn’t achieve as many downloads or likes as simpler projects, it’s perfect for dedicated makers. The clear step-by-step instructions make the assembly process smooth which is always a plus. Animated Winter Wonderland takes your holiday spirit—and maker skills—to the next level. Congratulations to Chiz for winning a brand new Original Prusa MK4S Kit!
Second place
Traditional German Pyramid by GCV3D
The second-place-winning design brings a classic piece of German Christmas decor. It’s motorized, “powered” by LED tea lights instead of open flames, and perfectly captures the charm of traditional wooden versions. The color palette also hits the mark, delivering a great “wooden look” vibe. We love the video showcasing the model in action—though a detailed assembly guide would be a welcome addition, especially for those new to 3D printing projects. Kudos to GCV3D for giving a traditional decoration a modern 3D twist!
2000 Prusameters are on their way to your Printables account.
Third place
Simple, elegant, and functional—h3li0’s Christmas ornaments brought a breath of fresh air to the holiday season! This design features a mini-collection of three sphere-shaped ornaments, crafted to tackle the challenges of 3D printing perfectly round objects. To achieve a flawless print, the spheres are split into two halves, allowing for internal supports without compromising the ornament’s clean exterior. A clever connector locks the two halves together, ensuring a snug fit without excessive force. These ornaments were a hit in the contest, racking up downloads, likes, and makes—earning their place on many Christmas trees this year! The silk and metallic finishes shown in the photos bring out their timeless charm, proving that sometimes simplicity is the key. Congratulations to h3li0 for a design that shines bright on every tree!
1200 Prusameters are heading your way.
