We’re preparing to launch a new firmware update for our Buddy-based 3D printers, including the MK4S, XL and CORE One, and we decided to share this short developer diary to give you a little sneak peek of the new functionality and collect your initial feedback.

We always support our 3D printers years after launch with significant firmware updates bringing new functionality and features. In the past, we introduced the Input Shaper, Pressure Advance and Phase Stepping technologies via software updates.

One of the most convenient improvements in terms of user experience is the Cancel Object feature. When you’re printing multiple objects and one of them becomes loose, you can easily tell the printer to skip this object and continue printing. This is possible thanks to clever labels in the printer’s instructions (comments in the G-code).

The Cancel Object feature in Prusa Connect

For the upcoming update, we took the Cancel Object feature as a starting point and our firmware team worked closely with the and Prusament team to improve the reliability of our printers even further. We’re introducing the Regressive Extrusion technology to allow you to recover not only from print failures, but also to recover lost filament.

So, how does it work? Check the video developer diary below.

Happy printing! 🙂
