The first PrusaPrinters.org contest just ended! And because we were running it for the majority of October, it was pretty clear what theme we should choose: Halloween. The festival of fright, time of terror and ghastly galore of ghouls and ghosts! And what shocked us even more than a spooky scary skeleton was the number of submitted models: over 150 of them! It was incredibly difficult to choose the best ones.

We turned dozens of Prusa Research employees (and Jo Prusa as well, of course) into judges, who were given the difficult task of picking the best models. Each of the judges could select from 3 to 5 models, rewarding them with 1 to 5 points. The final leaderboard was created based on the highest scores received.

1ST PLACE: Fester Addams Bust by JS-studio

The first place award goes to JS-studio with the Fester Addams Bust model. You win the main prize: the Original Prusa i3 MK3S kit! This author submitted several very cool models, be sure to check them out. Thank you and congratulations!

2ND PLACE: Zombie Hand by FKurzhals

The second place belongs to FKurzhals with the incredibly detailed Zombie Hand model. It may look even better when printed with PLA Prusament Lime Green filament – which is one of the second-place prizes. This is our upcoming filament color and FKurzhals will be one of the first ones who will be able to try it out. We’re also sending a bunch of extra Prusament spools: PLA Galaxy Black, PETG Ultramarine Blue Transparent and PETG Carmine Red Transparent. Happy printing!

3RD PLACE: LowPolySkeleton01 by 6ill9re9

And the third-place award goes to 6ill9re9 with the LowPolySkeleton01 model. We couldn’t imagine Halloween without skeletons, so this one is definitely a welcome addition! And if you print it with glow-in-the-dark filament, it will look even better. We’re sending Prusament PLA Galaxy Black and PETG Prusa Orange to our third winner!

And that’s it, right? Well, not quite! We decided to give one more award – this time for the wittiest and funniest entry: an Invisible Ghost by JanTec. Can you, uhm… see how scary it is? We had a good laugh and decided to send two spools to JanTec – one is a very special spool with invisible filament, the second one is a more traditional Prusament PLA Galaxy Black 😉

Choosing just 3 models from such a vast selection of great models wasn’t easy and we would like to share several honorable mentions here:

Lighted jack-o-lantern pumpkin candy pale. Safe and fun! (Matthew Ray)
Addams Family Thing (JS-studio)
Dodongo’s Cavern (MiniWorld 3D)
Catrina Skeleton (SpartanDog3D)
Halloween Raven (jonasrh)
Prehispanic/Catrina Skull (SpartanDog3D)
Sally Skellington – Nightmare Before Christmas (Dom)
Bat lamp (Kikenana)
Automata Bat Wings (Kingfisher)

Of course, feel free to check out the complete list of all the entries.

And that’s all, for now. Our huge thanks to everyone who submitted their models into the contest! We will contact the winners this week. And for everyone else, who didn’t have time to enter this contest: don’t worry! There will be more contests (with great main prizes) in the near future – stay tuned!

Happy printing and spooky Halloween!
